Funny Kid

She's a funny kid, alright!
1) We were just in Seattle for Nana's 65th Birthday and she is still talking about her visit to the "Space Noodle!"

2) Yesterday, Mark and I took Avery, Cinder & Nasdaq for a walk around the lake and Avery got very upset when she waded into the cold water (in her new Keen's--Thanks, Aunt Christie). I'm not sure if it was the cold or the wet, but daddy carried her back up to the trail then tried to set her down to walk. We told her that if her feet were cold, walking would help warm them up! So, we're holding her hands while walking and she starts saying, "This isn't going to work! This isn't going to work!" She was happier riding on daddy's shoulders!

"Choking"

Avery woke me up at 4:3o this morning with a scream to let me know that she'd "choked" in her bed. Poor little thing had puked all over and was asking for a paper towel, not to wipe herself off, but to wipe off her bed! Awwwww! So, after a day full of "choke-ies," she seems to be feeling better and we'll be off to Seattle in the morning for Nana's 65th Birthday this weekend!

Fortunately, she learned about "the bowl" quickly enough and I didn't have too much deep cleaning to do! She would say, "I got choke-ies" and sit or stand right over her bowl--good girl!

I did, however, have to throw away a door mat since one of the dogs had "an accident" all over it and the floor nearby. What a great day! Full of puke and poop--awesome!

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

While we were in Costa Rica (January & February 2008), Avery was on one of her "Why?" kicks. Fortunately it slowed for a while. Unfortunately, we're back into it now!

So, one morning while Mama was trying to sleep in (until 8 am or so), Avery was sitting on the kitchen counter cracking eggs and asked her Grandma "Why?" one too many times! Grandma explained that once you've asked once or twice, that's enough; it's not nice to continue asking.

Avery asks her, "Will you be mad?" Grandma tells her "Oh no, it just makes me sad since you have such nice manners the rest of the time--you say 'please' and 'thank you' so nicely--and it's just not polite to keep asking 'why?'

Then Avery quips, "Por que?"
(In case you don't speak Spanish, 'Por que' means 'why?')

...And so it begins...
"I'm not sure where she gets it..." -Mama

A Party!

Last Friday, we were on our way to dinner when Avery spotted a temporary carnival on a prominent corner here in Anchorage. She said "Wow!" and we asked her what it was. "A Party!" She replied, "that's amazing!"
We didn't pass that corner on the way home from dinner!
